Americans for the Arts continues its tradition of welcoming artists to attend its 2006 Annual Convention, Living Cultural Democracy: Arts in Changing Communities, scheduled for June 3-5 in Milwaukee.
The convention will explore opportunities for cultural development in the changing environments of cultural democracy. In sessions and through arts experiences, you will contribute to and benefit from lively exchanges about the implications of demographic trends, funding patterns, promising practices, and expanding influence.

Does Your Arts Organization Need a Little Fundraising Help?
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) of Eastern Iowa is offering
3-hour interactive workshops that address the following topics:
• Seeking grant support (September 25, Coralville, IA)
• Board and volunteer development (September 25, Coralville, IA)
• Individual major gift fundraising (October 11, Cedar Falls, IA)
Anyone new to the development field will learn how to organize and manage
fundraising programs, gain basic skills in a variety of techniques and prepare
for a career in development. Volunteers will find the Essentials of Fundraising
valuable preparation for gift solicitation. Trustees and CEOs will discover
useful tools to shape the direction and clarify the expectations of the
development office. All attendees will have the opportunity to network and
develop relationships with other fundraisers in their area. They will also
receive sample fundraising plans, solicitation letters, policies and guidelines,
and other relevant fundraising resources.
Each workshop costs $60 for AFP members and $80 for non-members. Tickets for the entire series cost $250 for AFP members and $350 for non-members. Participants will earn CEU credits to be used toward CFRE certification.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals is committed to advancing philanthropy by encouraging organizations to practice effective and ethical fundraising.
