June 1 will mark the one year anniversary of Buyiowaart.com, an online gallery for Iowa artists to sell their work. Here are some interesting things we’ve learned in one year of being up and running:
Outsiders want Iowa art! Orders from 15 other states have been placed on the site.
. We’ve been having great fun talking about a boot scraper that’s become a celebrity. Made by an Iowa artist in the Amana Colonies, it is one of the many wonderful works of art available on our new Buyiowaart.com Web site. It was discovered there by producers of the popular television series Law and Order, rushed to New York, and used as a plot element in a January episode of the show.
One of the most popular ways shoppers are finding the site is by searching for koi art. Buyiowaart.com happens to feature a Fairfield artist who specializes in sculpting koi fish.
Iowa is full of artists! We get about 5 inquiries a week from folks who
want to sell their work on the site.
