IAC Teaching Artist Roster Application Deadline April 3

Teaching Artists RosterApplications for the Iowa Arts Council teaching artists roster are due April 3 by 4:30 p.m. (this is not a postmark deadline) in the IAC offices at the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust, Des Moines.

IAC compiles the roster to help sponsors identify artists who are pre-approved to work in Artists in Schools & Communities (AISC) Residencies and other arts education activities. A peer panel evaluates each roster applicant for artistic and instructional abilities and achievements. Rostered artists work in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from crafts, design, holography, literature and photography to folk, traditional, performance, music, opera, theatre and visual arts.

Applicants added to the Teaching Artists Roster also will be added to the IAC’s EdArtists listserve. Each year, they will be offered opportunities for additional orientation and professional development.

An advisory panel of arts professionals, educators, artists and knowledgeable laypersons in the arts will audition/interview applicants May 10 in Des Moines. Applicants are required to travel to Des Moines at their own expense for the audition/interview. Panel recommendations are forwarded to the IAC executive director for final approval. Applicants will be notified about roster additions on or about June 1.
