Two Iowa arts organizations have received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts under the Challenge America: Reaching Every Community Fast-Track Review program. These grants support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations.
Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Company
West Liberty, IA
$10,000
To support a show with guest puppeteer Bob Aiken, in collaboration with other
local artists and residents. The project will involve adults and students, some
from low-income, rural areas of the community.
Iowa Trails Council, Inc. (on behalf of Jefferson County Trails
Council)
Center Point, IA
$10,000
To support the design and installation of public art on the Cedar View Pedestrian
and Bicycle Trail Bridges. Working with the community, artist Judy Bales will
incorporate local railroad history and frame views of the natural environment
with trail enhancements such as mosaic gateways, steel sculpture, and concrete
etching.
