Lt. Governor Invites you to "Re-Discover Iowa"
Lt.
Governor Sally Pederson will visit 17 communities June 22-25 during the
"Re-Discover Iowa" tour celebrating the many cultural sites, events and
attractions Iowa has to offer.
During the tour, Pederson will visit some of the state's best treasures, with stops including the Western Historic Trails Center in Council Bluffs, the State Historical Library in Iowa City, the Ice Cream Capital of the World in LeMars, the River Music Experience in Davenport, Matchstick Marvels in Gladbrook and the 8th Annual Iowa State BBQ Championship in Marshalltown. At many of the stops, the Lt. Governor will participate in local activities and greet local residents who are welcome to join in the festivities.
The tour is a partnership between the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and the Iowa Department of Economic Development - Tourism Division. The agencies worked together on Pederson's initial "Discover Iowa" tour in 2001, visiting 36 communities in 7 days. Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs Director Anita Walker will accompany the Lt. Governor throughout the "Re-discover" tour, which begins June 22 with a stop in Perry at the Carnegie Library Museum.
