Richmond is a photographer who spends his spare time as an associate professor
of art and chair of the Simpson College department of art. Richmond has a collection
of photographs he took during a trip to China in May 2004, several of which are

Dance #5, for instance, is a richly textured piece of two Chinese women
dancing. Taken deliberately out of focus to reveal movement, the image Richmond
captures is steeped in the color red with undertones of black contrasted against
