IAC Announces Major Grant Recipients
From a musical program for seniors in Marion to a youth chorus performance in Sioux City, the Iowa Arts Council has awarded grants totaling $128,300 to 20 organizations and individuals.
These major grants allow applicants to request up to $10,000, which much be matched dollar-for-dollar with cash or in-kind contributions. Forty-eight applications were received in this latest round with requests totaling $362,999.
“The Iowa Arts Council’s Major Grants fund projects that provide a quality arts experience for the people of Iowa,” said IAC Division Administrator Mary Sundet Jones. “Each of these projects embodies the creativity, capability and commitment to reaching diverse audiences that a quality arts experience requires.”
Deadlines for Major Grant applications only occurs twice per year — October 1 and April 1. A streamlined grant review process and a new grants administrator on staff to handle the details helped speed up the awards process this year.
“We were able to review the applications, set up the panels and make
the funding decisions within 13 working days from beginning to end,” said
Linda Lee, IAC grants administrator. “It’s a phenomenal turnaround
and all IAC staff members can take credit for making it happen so quickly.”
