Save the Date for Cultural Advocacy Day

Iowa Cultural Coalition logoThe Iowa Cultural Coalition has planned Cultural Advocacy Day for Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 in Des Moines. You can get involved!

In early January, ICC will begin holding regional meetings around the state to connect with cultural organizations and individuals in order to shape advocacy efforts in the coming year. If you would like to contribute your ideas, please watch the ICC Web site, www.iowaculturalcoalition.org, for details on how to participate.

The event will begin at the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust, Des Moines, Monday, January 23 with advocacy training and a review of the platform for Cultural Advocacy Day. A legislative reception will be held Monday evening (location to be determined). On Tuesday morning, January 24, groups will gather for a legislative breakfast, the traditional march to the Capitol and an opportunity to meet with their legislators. Tuesday afternoon will give participants an opportunity to attend “problem solving meetings” to discuss topics such as smart building codes, health care for cultural workers, arts education and more.
