The Artist's Sketch: Marcia Joffe-Bouska
These questions originally came from a French series, "Bouillon de Culture" hosted by Bernard Pivot. They're better known as the questions that James Lipton asks every guest at the end of "Inside the Actor's Studio" and have been adapted for Iowa Arts Council artists. This month, we feature Marcia Joffe-Bouska, a visual artist from Council Bluffs.
1. What is your favorite word?
“Weekend.”
2. What is your least favorite word?
“No.”
3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
“The freedom of unstructured time and no deadlines.”
4. What turns you off?
“Unkindness.”
5. What sound or noise do you love?
“Voices of people I love, the mewing of my cat, and the sounds of nature.”
6. What sound or noise do you hate?
“Angry words, car horns honking, phone ringing.”
7. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
“Landscape or garden design.”
8. What profession would you not like to do?
“A roofer, or anything involving heights.”
9. Who's the biggest influence on your life?
“My husband, daughter and son.”
