IAC Seeks Arts Education/Community Programs Coordinator

Salary Range: $33,425.60 - $47,964.80 annually

Entrepreneurial, dynamic state arts agency seeks results-oriented, personable and knowledgeable program coordinator to plan and develop programming to support arts education and community arts development, and to work with major arts council grant programs. Build and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders, manage programming that supports school-arts partnerships, provide support and development for teachers and teaching artists, identify and address needs in community arts programs and arts education, and participate with staff team to plan and facilitate IAC grant programming.
Expected Competencies
· Knowledge of the principles, theories, trends and current research related
to arts education, arts partnerships, and the role of teaching artists.
· Knowledge of trends and current thinking related to growth and development
of community arts agencies.
· Able to plan and carry out program initiatives with energy and a collaborative
spirit, focused on results that benefit Iowans.
· Understanding of grants processes and programs.
· Self-motivated and flexible—able to develop and maintain effective
working relationships with others—committed to quality service and communication
both internally and with constituents.
Education, experience and special requirements:
· Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and 2-4
years of experience in arts or arts education program coordination.
· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, required.
· Experience as a certified teacher or teaching artist is preferred.
· In-state travel required.
· Current Iowa driver’s license required.
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
Location: State Historical Building, Des Moines, IA
The person hired for this position will be expected to attend a national training
session for state arts agency arts education managers in Boise, Idaho, September
6-8, 2005.
