The University of Northern Iowa seeks artists for two Art in State Building projects
The University of Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa seeks artists or artist teams to commission two new works of art as part of the Iowa Art in State Buildings Program. The application deadline for both projects is August 20, 2010.
Multi-Modal Parking Facility – UNI will commission an artist or artist team to create a two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional interior or exterior artwork for the Multi-Modal Parking Facility, a three-story building that is a place for student, faculty, and staff parking, which opened for operation in 2009. It is also a place where the city and University bus system make stops every 20 minutes during the day. The budget for the artwork is $43,000.

Residence Hall - UNI will commission an artist or artist team to create a two-dimensional and/or three-dimensional interior or exterior artwork for permanent installation in a new residence hall complex to be constructed beginning summer 2010. The apartment community will house juniors and seniors. Approximately 10’ x 10’ of floor space set aside for a three dimensional artwork within the main floor lounge and other interior and/or exterior public spaces within the complex identified by the artist. A minimum of $75,000 is anticipated to be available for this project. The actual budget will be provided to finalist(s) prior to the development of their concepts.
