Join the Iowa Arts Council Panelist Pool
“I feel like I got a master’s degree in grant writing.”
-- an IAC Major Grants review panelist, 2006
The Iowa Arts Council involves 30-40 people each year as panelists to review
grant applications, artist roster applications, and provide advice and guidance
in various program areas. We maintain an active pool of names and information
about potential panelists, and draw from that pool as needs arise.
Citizen advice and counsel is central to government support of the arts. The
IAC relies on individuals reflecting a broad range of artistic and cultural
viewpoints to bring their knowledge and experience to application review and
our programming. You may be an artist, arts organization worker, arts teacher,
or grant maker – if you’re any of these, you’ve got a perspective
that is valuable. You don’t need prior experience– we’ll
walk you through what you need to do. Depending on the panel, the task may
require your presence at the IAC office for 1 to 3 days, and may require some
at-home application reading.
What should you do?
First, read the descriptions (.pdf) of each of our panels. *
Then, if the opportunity sparks your interest, complete the panelist profile form (.pdf) , and click on the “submit by email” button at the top of the page.
Finally, wait to hear from the IAC. We will contact you to confirm your interest and availability if we think we can use you for an upcoming panel. Note that we may not contact you immediately, but you will be in our panelist pool and we’ll be in touch when the opportunity arises.
