Iowa Arts Council grant deadlines approach
Major, Mini and ICCG applications due this Spring

DES MOINES – The Iowa Arts Council is reminding arts and cultural organizations throughout the state of upcoming application deadlines for its Major, Mini and Iowa Community Cultural Grant programs.

A list of grant programs and upcoming application deadline dates follows:

IAC Major Grants
Application deadline: Monday, March 26, 2012, at 4:30 p.m.

Major Grant applicants may request up to $10,000 in funding for eligible projects in five categories: Individual Artists, Arts in Education, Folk & Traditional Arts, Organizations, and Public Art. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline. Please note this application deadline is earlier than in previous years. Eligible projects must take place between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013, and meet all stated criteria. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the new supplemental materials guidelines on the Iowa Arts Council website at www.iowaartscouncil.org.

IAC Mini Grants
Application Deadline: Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at 4:30 p.m.

Applicants may request up to $1,000 in support of a wide variety of arts projects. Eligible projects must take place before June 30, 2012, and meet all stated criteria. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline.

Applicants should note there will not be an April or June 2012 Mini Grant round. May 1 will be the final Mini Grant application opportunity of the IAC’s 2012 fiscal year.

Iowa Community Cultural Grants
Application Deadline: Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at 4:30 p.m.

The Iowa Community Cultural Grant Program (ICCG) provides matching grants to support projects that provide jobs for current Iowa residents while enhancing Iowa’s artistic, cultural and historical resources. Eligible projects must take place between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013, and meet all stated criteria. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline.

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is responsible for developing the state’s interest in the areas of the arts, history and other cultural matters with the advice and assistance from its two divisions: the State Historical Society of Iowa and the Iowa Arts Council. DCA preserves, researches, interprets and promotes an awareness and understanding of local, state and regional history and stimulates and encourages the study and presentation of the performing and fine arts and public interest and participation in them.
