Iowa Arts Jobs Preservation Grant deadline June 1

IAC offers Webinars May 8 and 12 for potential applicants

(DES MOINES, Iowa) — The Iowa Arts Council is reminding arts and presenting organizations that June 1, 2009, is the application deadline for the Iowa Arts Jobs Preservation Grant program.

The IAJPG program is designed to support the retention of non-fundraising positions in Iowa arts organizations, as well as retention or extension of artist contracts in arts presenting organizations. The program does not support the engagement of personnel for new projects. Approximately $320,000 will be directed to Iowa arts and presenting organizations for one-time, non-matching grants up to $25,000 each for projects occurring between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010.

The program is supported by American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts to IAC and Arts Midwest for re-granting to preserve arts jobs. Arts Midwest serves nine Midwestern states and is partnering with IAC to distribute a portion of its ARRA funds in Iowa.

Iowa arts and presenting organizations must have applications submitted to the IAC office at the State Historical Building, 600 E. Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50319 by 4:30 p.m. June 1, 2009. This is not a postmark deadline.

Potential applicants are encouraged to register for one of two upcoming free Webinars about the Iowa Arts Jobs Preservation Grant program:

To register, send an email with name and daytime phone number to Linda.Lee@iowa.gov. Instructions for signing on to the Webinar will be emailed to registrants. Visit www.iowaartscouncil.org for more information.
