IAC Major Grant applications for FY2010 due April 1, 2009
October 2009 grant review period canceled
(DES MOINES, Iowa) — The Iowa Arts Council is reminding Iowans that all Major Grant applications for fiscal year 2010 (July 1, 2009-June 30, 2010) are due April 1, 2009.
In February, IAC canceled the October 2009 round of Major Grant applications to reduce costs associated with the review process. Major Grant applications for fiscal year 2010 must be received by 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in the IAC office at 600 E. Locust, Des Moines, Iowa 50319.
“Major Grants are usually awarded twice a year,” IAC Administrator Mary Sundet Jones said. “But we need to let applicants know that we expect to only have the April deadline for the next fiscal year. This change will save the administrative costs related to running two rounds of Major Grants. We may be able to re-open the second round in October once we know the outcome of state and federal budget decisions.”
Major Grants deliver the arts to Iowans through a range of programs and educational outreach, and are awarded to schools, individuals, arts organizations, and community organizations across Iowa. They are reviewed in seven categories, including:
- Artists
- Artists in Schools & Communities Residencies
- Arts in Education
- Conferences, Workshops and Forums
- Folk & Traditional Arts
- Organizations
- Public Art
Major Grant applicants may request up to $10,000 in funding, which they must match. For the current fiscal year, IAC awarded 43 Major Grants totaling $304,600. It received 151 total Major Grant applications requesting nearly $1.3 million in funding.
