The Iowa Arts Council received 12 eligible Mini grant applications for the August round.There were 12 eligible applications, requesting a total of $15,900 in funding. Of those five were selected for funding, totaling $7500.

IAC funding will support the Iowa Women's Music Festival on September 12, including a free outdoor concert featuring Kim-Char Meredith, Lynne Rothrock, Tracy Walker, Cosy Sheridan, Carolyn Wonderland w/Shelley King, and Michelle Shocked, and an evening event featuring Iowa artists Leslie and the LY's and the Jodie Foster Connection. Funding would be applied to directly support the artists.

Funding for this project will support the  recording and publicly release a CD of Kui-Im Lee's organ performance at Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, University of Northern Iowa.  The project will serve to commemorate the tenth anniversary (2010) of the Performing Arts Center and its organ, Hellmuth Wolff et Associes, Opus 43.

Donna Stack will use IAC funding for exhibiting a multi-media installation titled Refuge(e) Iowa at Mount Mercy College from November 10 through December 11, 2009. The installation deals with issues relating to her recent relocation and acclimation to Iowa as experienced through the four elements of earth, water, air, and fire.

IAC Funding will support the performance of the Verdehr Trio in a public recital on October 3, 2009 in Bengtson Auditorium at the University of Northern Iowa.  Members of the trio (Elsa-Ludewig-Verdehr, clarinet, Walter Verdehr, violin, and Sylvia Roederer, piano) will each present a master class for UNI students and local middle and high school students.
