We received a total of$24,000 in requested funds. Of those, 7 were selected for funding, totaling $8,800

Sac City Arts Council, Sac City
Showcase Sac City
$1,500
Funding for this project will showcase Sac City's heritage and welcome visitors
with an outdoor mural, designed and painted by Carl Homstad. The mural will
depict the historic 1908 Chautauqua Building. Volunteers will have significant
involvement. The mural will be completed in late summer, 2007 to launch the
Chautauqua Building's centennial year.
Larassa Kabel, Des Moines
Peripheral Visions

IAC grants funds will support the artist to create a significant new body
of work consisting of eight photorealistic oil paintings and six charcoal
drawings exploring the phenomenon of peripheral vision. It will be shown at
the Fitch Gallery, Des Moines from February 1 - 22, 2008.
Ames Town & Gown Chamber Music Association, Ames
The Rose Ensemble

Funding will support allow the Ames Town & Gown to present The Rose Ensemble,
a twelve-member vocal and instrumental group specializing in early music,
in concert at Ames City Auditorium at 7:30 on September 29, 2007. On Sunday,
September 30, The Rose will present a public outreach event at the Ames Public
Library at 2:00.
Des Moines Carousel Foundation (Heritage Carousel), Des Moines
Creating a Carousel

With IAC grant funding, Art and Marilyn Ritchie, Master Carver and Master
Painter and owners of Carousel Works, will provide a demonstration on how
a carousel figure comes to life. On Sunday, July 15th, the Ritchies will demonstrate
both carousel carving and painting, provide information on how a carousel
is created and answer questions throughout the day.
Rosalind Buda, Iowa City
Rome Festival Orchestra

With grant support will allow artist Rosalind Buda, to represent the state
of Iowa and the University of Iowa School of Music at the Rome Festival Orchestra
this summer. This prestigious program is from July 13-August 5, 2007.
Barbara Bianchi, Clinton
Expand Teacher Workshop/Create Marketing Brochure/Promote the Workshop

Funding will support Teaching Artist Barbara Bianchi to further expand "Building
Character Through Found Object Art: A CHARACTER COUNTS! Through the Arts Activity,"
an arts-related professional development workshop for teachers. In this 3-day
workshop teachers will learn simple art activities they can use with their
students to enhance character education.

Kids Take the Stage Youth Theater Classes

IAC grant funds will help to provide a substantial expansion of the highly
successful "Kids Take the Stage" after-school youth theater classes
by the purchase of professional grade costumes. "Kids Take the Stage"
helps kids in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade build confidence, self-esteem
and communications skills through the art of theater.
