The Iowa Arts Council received 15 eligible Mini grant applications for the May Round We received a total of $17,850 in requested funds. Of those, 7 were selected for funding, totaling $7,850.
Out of a possible score of 44, the highest score of those selected for funding was 36.67 the lowest at 31.67.

Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom

The AAHMCCI will use grant funds to hire artists for its annual week-long Juneteenth Celebration. The Museum seeks to add value to its celebration through performances by IAC-recognized artists Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Company and BF Burt and the Instigators.

Code Brown is a tour featuring Iowa Hip Hop Artist Aeon Grey. Funding is for the end dates of the tour. Three performances from June 1st to June 3rd all in the New York City, and State area. Funding will be used for transportation, food, and hotels.

City of Minburn, Minburn
Come As You Are Community Concert

In service to its constituents, the city leaders of Minburn are continuing efforts to enrich the surrounding community. Grant funding will support the original music of the Home Grown Tomatoes brings people together with fun, kinship and a greater appreciation of the Mid-west lifestyle. On June 9, the members of Dallas County will together share an evening of the musical arts not only as residents, but as neighbors.

To enhance the artistic experience for audience and actors, Pella Shakespeare Company will use grant funding to hire veteran theatre professionals: Valerie Williams, choreographer; Michael Sokoloff, fight master; and new Iowa talent juggler Doug DeWolf & improv actor Michael Tweeton and Susan Gulbrathson to offer workshops open to all local theatre groups, choreograph dances and fights; as well as offer pre-show lectures, demos and olios

All-Iowa New Horizons Band Festival

On June 2, 2007, with the support of this Iowa Arts Council grant, New Horizons concert bands comprised of seniors age 50 and over from 6 Iowa communities will come together to perform a free concert at the recently restored historic Englert Theater, Iowa City. Each band will perform a 20-25 minute program for a 3-hour concert, followed by a reception at the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center. Music will be selected for a "Celebrate Iowa" theme

Old Settlers Association, Fort Madison
Presenting "Switchback" to Fort Madison Community

The Old Settlers Association will host 3 summer concerts (June-July-August) Grant funding from the Iowa Arts council will be used to support the Irish duo, "Switchback" on July 20, 2007 (6-9 pm) at Old Settlers Park-Fort Madison. Date is available and confirmed.

Performing Arts and Education Association of SW IA, Red Oak
Missoula Children's Theatre

Performing Arts and Education Association of SW IA, in collaboration with the Wabash Arts Camp, is presenting for the second year the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), July 9-14, 2007. With support from this grant, MCT will conduct auditions and be in residency for the week, coaching 60 students to produce "The Pied Piper" with two performances at the Gladys Wirsig Jones auditorium at the Shenandoah High School.
