Fiscal Year 2007 / Mini Grants: February
The Iowa Arts Council received 20 eligible Mini grant applications for the
2007 February round.
We received a total of $25,782 in requested funds.
Of those, 6 were selected for funding, totaling $9,000
Out of a possible score of 44, the highest score of those selected for funding
was 40.67 and the lowest at 36.00.
Iowa Composers Forum, Cedar Rapids
A Cedar Falls Festival of New Music

Funding will support the Cedar Falls Festival of New Music that will
take place at the University of Northern Iowa on April 7, 2007. It will consist
of three concerts of new music composed by members of the Iowa Composers Forum
(ICF).
Rebecca Ekstrand, Des Moines
Web Site Portfolio/Rebecca Ekstrand

Rebecca Ekstrand will use IAC funding for the creation of professional
web pages of her public art. She will hire a graphic designer to build a comprehensive
visually interesting and user friendly site. It will enable her to market
and promote her work.
Siouxland Youth Chorus, Sioux City
Kidzsing 2007
$1,500
IAC funding will help the Siouxland Youth Chorus to host KIDZSING,
a choral music festival for children's choirs, May 19, 2007, in Sioux City.
The singers in attendance will have the opportunity to receive a clinic, perform
individually, and perform in a massed festival choir, all under the direction
of a nationally renowned conductor/clinician.
Barbara Bianchi, Clinton
Artist To Create New Artwork for Iowa State Memorial Union Solo Exhibit

Funding will allow artist Barbara Bianchi to create found object
art assemblages for a solo exhibit at Iowa State University Memorial Union.
Cedar Rapids Community School District, Cedar Rapids
American Folk Tradition: Inspiration for New Classical Music

IAC funding will allow Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School Language
Arts, Humanities and Music students will experience interactive classes on
two occasions each with Rostered Iowa Arts Council Artists Jan Boland and
John Dowdall in a four-day school residency, March 19-22, 2007. The students
will be the first to hear "American Folk Suite" - a brand new chamber
music work which is the musical focus of the residency.
Bluffs Arts Council, Council Bluffs
Behold the Beauty: Celebrating CB Church Architecture, Music and St Glass
$1,500
IAC funding supports the Bluffs Arts Council as they celebrate Council
Bluffs church history, architecture, music and art by producing a series of
church concerts and tour. To go along with this project, a comprehensive 32-pp.
brochure will be created that will be used not only for the purpose of the
Bluffs Arts Council's project but will be a lasting resource to the community
through the Chamber of Commerce.
