2007 April round. We received a total of $25,465 in requested funds. Of those, 7 were selected for funding, totaling $10,400
Out of a possible score of 44, the highest score of those selected for funding was 39.33 and the lowest at 36.00.

Des Moines Parks Eco-Art Scavenger Hunt

Funding will support a project in which participants will search for eco-art sculptures, which will be constructed from natural materials and depict our parks on environmental issues and solutions being undertaken to improve water quality in our creeks, ponds, and rivers.

Iowa Valley Community College District, Marshalltown
Exposing At-Risk Families to Storytelling at the University of Iowa

With grant support from the Iowa Arts Council, Iowa Valley Family Literacy Program will partner with Marshalltown Education Partnership (MEP) and Marshall County Arts & Culture Alliance to provide an opportunity for potential first generation college attendees and their parents/mentors to attend a performance of David Gonzalez, a professional storyteller, at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City, Iowa.

Bosnian Cultural Foundation, Waterloo
Waterloo Teferic

Waterloo Teferic's (Waterloo Bosnian Congress of Game and Folklore)mission is to provide a yearly event in which Bosnians currently living in the Cedar Valley and Iowa can come together to celebrate our traditions and ethinic heritage. In the summer of 2007, with grant support from the Iowa Arts Council, the national Teferic will be held in Velika Kladusia in Bosnia. The event in Waterloo will be a "mini" version of the U.S. event.

Lydia Diemer, Iowa City
Iowa and the Pearl River Delta: the miniscule correspondences between

Support from this funding will allow artist Lydia Diemer to examine Iowa's riverboat and land-bound gambling venues in conjunction with the rapid development of the Pearl River Delta. Subsequently, she will use this research to create a new installation and series of monoprints at Anchor Graphics, August 1st through 19th, 2007.

Carnegie-Stout Public Library, Dubuque
The Gospel of Wealth: Andrew Carnegie Interpreted Through Sculpture

Funding will support this exhibition for the Carnegie-Stout Public Library in Dubuque, Iowa. It is a sculptural interpretation of the professional and philanthropic life of the Gilded Age steel industrialist Andrew Carnegie. The artist, John Anderson-Bricker intends to introduce patrons to the paradox within Andrew Carnegie between Social Darwinism and the "Gospel of Wealth."

Vocal Arts Ensemble of Greater Des Moines, Indianola
VAE's Spring Concert, "Celebrations of the Heart"

Grant funding will support the Vocal Arts Ensemble, conducted by Carol Stewart, to present its Spring Concert "Celebrations of the Heart" 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007 in the sanctuary of Central Presbyterian Church, Des Moines. Eulenspiegel Puppets Workshops and Performances

Funding supports a program in which the Eulenspiegel Puppets will work with intergenerational community members to rehearse and perform "Immigrant Stew," helping the community explore its current and past relationship to immigration. Participants will make puppets, rehearse and perform with professional artists/musicians.
