Linn Area Reads

This program will allow the community to read one book while the library will host discussions and conduct related programs. The selected book, Change Me Into Zeus’ Daughter was written by Iowa author Barbara Robinette Moss. Programs include author visits, discussions, screenplay readings (the book was nominated to the Sundance Film Festival). Moss’ original artwork will be displayed as well.

 

Orange City Arts Council
Quink Performance

Orange City will host a master class and an evening performance by the Netherlands vocal ensemble, Quink. Northwestern College will assist in presenting this internationally known a capella vocal quintet. The master class and performance will be held February 6, 2006.

 

Ames Town and Gown Chamber Music
Cantus Master Class

Ames Town and Gown Chamber Music will bring Cantus, a nine-member male vocal ensemble to Ames for a master class. Three choral groups, Ames Choral Society, Good Company and Ames Children’s Choir, will participate in the event which is free and open to the public.

 

Nora Garda Marcos, Iowa City
Research for Habeas Corpus: Tango Triptychs

Funding for this project will allow artists Nora Marcos and Mark McCusker to generate content for a multiple channel video installation. They will gather research material, tape landscapes and conduct interviews, convert tapes to digital files stored on external hard drives, edit, author and burn DVDs and make two-dimensional designs of three-dimensional spaces.

 

Fellows Elementary School, Ames
Exploring Artful Learning with Dance

This 10-day residency with artist Valerie Williams will allow students to explore the concept of balance with modern dance. The residency, studying dance and defining balance through physical movement, coincides with student work studying the problems for creating balance in music in art.
