Windows Past Installation

Funding will support the creation of a site-specific window installation for Voices from the Warehouse District exhibition in Dubuque, Iowa. This print-based work of Louise Kames will reference the building's window manufacturing history.

 

Chinese Association of Iowa, Clive
2005 Iowa Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival
$1,500

Funding will support the 2005 Iowa Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. The Chinese Association of Iowa will organize and plan three events for the second most celebrated Chinese traditional holiday among the Chinese community. Ceremonies and performances that are unique to the Mid-Autumn Festival and traditional Chinese culture will be held at these events.

 

Tandem Theatre and Dance, West Des Moines
Where Dance and Drums Shall Meet
$1,500

Funding for Where Dance and Drums Shall Meet is a collaboration of Hurley & Dancers with an Afro-Cuban drumming group led by drummer Anthony Stevens and composer Jacqueline Comito. Hurley will choreograph dance to the group's music to be performed live the weekend of November 19th. Master classes in dance, drumming and music will also be offered at the event.

 

Linn County Historical Society, Cedar Rapids
Jay Sigmund and the Art of Grant Wood

As a complement to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art's Grant Wood exhibit, the Carl and Mary Koehler History Center of the Linn County Historical Society will present an exhibit of Iowa poet Jay Sigmund's words juxtaposed with Grant Wood's art. The exhibit will include original Grant Wood pieces from private collections and prints of paintings on exhibit at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.

 

Jerry Owen, Cedar Rapids
Compact Disc Recording of Music by Iowa Composers

Jerry Owen will direct phase two of a three-phase process to create a CD of chamber music written by Iowa composers. Phase one funded the studio recording of the project. Funding for this phase is for the edit mapping and professional editing of the project by Iowa recording engineer Peter Nothnagle. The music reflects the ethnicities and cultural history of eastern Iowa.

 

Robert John Ford, Fort Dodge
Audio Recording of Songs from Two Iowa Musicals

Funding is for the audio recording of songs from two Iowa musicals—one of 17 original songs from the musical Six-On-Six and another of 12 original songs from the musical Caucus. They will be professionally produced by Kirk Kaufman at his studio in Otho, Iowa. The six-week project will feature musicians and vocalists from the Fort Dodge area.
