Kate Carol Residency

Kate Carol will use sports themes, a dance through history, and creative movement
games to inspire the K-5th grade student at Orange City Elementary. The 5-day
residency will end with programs for two area nursing homes and an all-school
assembly.
Central College, Pella
Symphonic Wind Ensemble Guest Conductor

Although the composer’s name is emblazoned upon every piece of music they play,
students forget that making music is an artistic contract between creator and
re-creator. To help students appreciate the perspective of the composer, the Central
College SWE seeks to invite composer/conductor Andrew Boysen, Jr., to campus for
two days in November.
Zion Lutheran Concert Series, Clinton
The Rastrelli Cello Quartet

On Sunday, Oct. 10, the Zion Concert Series will host a concert by the Rastrelli
Cello Quartet. On Monday morning, they will perform for students in the Clinton
Schools’ orchestras in honor of the string programs’ 100th anniversary. This funding
will provide musician’s fees and publicity.
Prairie Ridge Elementary, Cedar Rapids
Pam Dennis Residency

Pam Dennis will spend five days working with K-5th grade students at Prairie Ridge.
All students will make a sculptural piece to be combined into two large permanent
multi-media sculptures. These collaborative pieces will utilize recycled and natural
materials, allowing students to explore environmental and artistic disciplines.
Tallgrass Theatre Company, Dallas Center
Attention Deficit Drama

This project aims to be a reflection of our TV-centric culture; a "channel-changing"
compilation of three comedy shorts interspersed with video segments with improvisational
elements. The comedy shorts are Arabian Nights, Sure Thing; and Daniel On A Thursday.
The video segments will be performed by the Comedy Xperiment.
Family Service League, Waterloo
The Good Fight: Artists Against Abuse

The project will focus attention on National Domestic Violence Awareness Month,
utilizing the arts to address issues of domestic abuse. The Family Service League,
in conjunction with numerous local partners, will incorporate art exhibitions,
performances, in-school workshops and assemblies, a film screening, and an artist
lecture to educate and assist in the prevention of domestic abuse.
Western Hills PTA, West Des Moines
Western Hills Elementary Fine Arts Day

Western Hills Fine Arts Day is an all day arts education and celebration program
for all K-6th grade students. Partners and staff collaborate to provide a wide
variety of hands-on activities from different disciplines and various cultures.
The event features Iowa artists for the 13th consecutive year.
