fall. The purpose of FACES is to showcase ethnic and cultural diversity among
the residents of the Story County area.

Art Workspace for Everyone!

The Community Art Resource Tank (CART) will offer open studio space, classes,
mentoring and an arts incubator to emerging artists, as well as art classes for
clients and staff of more than 20 Iowa social service agencies and members of
the general public.

Prairie Awakening- A Journey into Indigenous Living

Native Americans from at least three states and Canada participate in this festival
including drums, singers and dancers from the Sioux, Winnebago, and Anishnaube
tribes. Performers include Jerome Kills Small- singer/storyteller and Dallas Chief
Eagle- World Champion Hoop Dancer.

2005 Opera Iowa Statewide Tour

For 18 years OPERA Iowa has created magic - in rural schools, city classrooms,
"cafetoriums," community centers, concert halls and gymnasiums - offering
over 500,000 young people and adults a quality arts experience today while building
new enthusiastic audiences for opera tomorrow. The eight member OPERA Iowa Troupe
are young professionals whose goal is to captivate their audience.

Englert Night Out offers an alcohol-free, family-oriented festival of the arts
in downtown Iowa City. It is an alternative New Year’s Eve celebration that showcases
the best performers in the eastern Iowa area.

Together We Play: Arts and Inclusion

Together We Play assists young people with a variety of disabilities from diverse
backgrounds to become an integral part of their community. Funding will help support
training for staff at the Hearst Center for the Arts and the Waterloo Center for
the Arts.

Kun-Yang Lin Dancers Performance

The Galvin Fine Arts Center of St. Ambrose University will present two residency
programs Oct. 29th and a full stage production with the Kun-Yang Lin and Dancers
Modern Dance Company in the Auditorium at the Galvin Fine Arts Center.

The grant will be used to arrange for Artrain U.S.A., a traveling art museum with
five rail cars housing a fine arts exhibition. Interactive area and artists studios
will be presented July 8-10 at the Jesup Farmer’s Day in partnership with Meskwaki
Tribal artisans.

Its purpose is to support area artists through opportunities for professional

World Fest is a week-long residency by two international ensembles: Darma from
Israel and Anita Singleton-Prather and the Gullah Kinfolk from the Gullah Island.

Opening the Doors of Possibility

This project re-enacts the lives of Quad City women who inspired other women to
believe and achieve. Three actresses will present the 45-minute program in classroom
and large group assembly settings in both universities and theatres around the
area.

The 2004-2005 Visiting Artist Series will present approximately 280 educational
programs to broaden audience development and enhance student and adult understanding
of the arts. Over 80,000 residents participate.

grant funding to support University of Iowa graduate Rebecca Gilman’s production
of "Boy Gets Girl."

The Simpson College Young Writers’ Conference will celebrate the art of writing
for students through a presentation of Poetry Alive! and sessions presented by
several artists from around Iowa.

The Sioux City Symphony is seeking continuing support for its comprehensive series
of arts education programming, impacting more than 14,000 students in grades K-12.
The symphony’s education programs include educational concerts and public school
partnership efforts.

WVIK public radio is the media source of choice for information on the arts and
culture in the Quad Cities region. This commitment is build upon local arts programs
such as Bruce Carter’s "Art Talks" and "About Books" with
Faye Clowe.

Marshalltown Hispanic Dance Group

The grant will assist by creating two dance groups, increase artistic quality
of performances and promote an appreciation and awareness of Hispanic Culture
by performing throughout Iowa. Lizette Arriage, Sam Carajal and Valerie Busse
are all featured performers.
