The Harvest Lecture uses Iowa artists to explore ties between our Iowa environment and secular spirituality. The 2005 theme is Prairie Weather. Who hasn’t started a story using the weather? These creative writers will engage the topic of where we live through tornadoes, clouds, droughts, and other forms of weather.

Bill Anthony: Lineage of a Master Bookbinding Exhibit

Bill Anthony: Lineage of a Master Bookbinding Exhibit is a book arts exhibition at Iowa Artisan’s Gallery by Anthony’s former apprentices/students and their student, with educational displays illustrating processes in the craft of bookbinding. Approximately 40 artists will exhibit work. Funding will support production of an exhibit catalog including educational and historical text, promotion, operational and shipping costs.

The Pella Chamber of Commerce is hosting Diversity Night on Thursday evenings in Pella, an event that will showcase and celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity of its community and the state of Iowa. Invited artists include the Folk Dancers of India, the Tai Dam Dancers, the Isiserettes, and the Irish bard Maureen Korte.

“The Changing Book Tent Show”

The Changing Book Tent Show is a day-long fair-like event featuring demonstrations by artisans, tours of a paper mill, and hands-on activities related to the art and craft of the book. Iowa musicians Bob and Kristie Black, artisans Tim Moore and Jesse Mayer and Iowa artisans Lucy David and Larry Reid will demonstrate and perform at this event.
