Journey to Freedom: Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Residency: All Lincoln students K-5 and staff will engage in workshops and attend performances by Eulenspiegel Puppet theatre during a week-long residency coordinated by Lincoln's Arts Partners for Achievement Team. The concept of freedom vs. slavery will be explored through the story of the Underground Railroad.

Thresholds IV: Leonard Bernstein's Artful Peacemaking

"Thresholds IV: Leonard Bernstein's Artful Peacemaking": The Thresholds Arts Festival to a Culture of Peace 2005 celebrates the music and humanitarian work of American composer, conductor and educator, Leonard Bernstein. His daughter, songwriter and radio personality Jamie Bernstein, will hold the programs at Drake University and First Christian Church. Jamie is also the commissioned composer.

An African Journey in Storytelling and Dance

An African Journey in Storytelling and Dance: all 437 students will participate in culturally diversity activities during Art, Music, PE and Media. The Specialists will team with Dorian Byrd in teaching African folklore and dances during the residency, culminating in a school wide dance and storytelling performance, featuring student made costumes. Parents and others will be invited.

Calle Sur Assemblies at SWCC for Diversity Week Extravaganza:
Southwestern Community College is a community partner in the implementation of a community wide Diversity Week Extravaganza in Creston during the week of Feb. 13-18. Calle Sur will be on campus to present two assemblies addressing diversity through the sharing of Latin American and Caribbean music.

Marshalltown Hispanic Dance Group

Marshalltown Hispanic Dance Group: Funds will provide the continuation of an existing project that will increase the artistic quality of performances and promote the Hispanic culture through dance. Funds will be used to purchase material to construct dance costumes and to hire Sam Carbajel to coordinate the dance groups, schedule training and travel to festivals throughout Iowa.

Siouxland Youth Chorus, Sioux City
Siouxland Youth Chorus KidzSing

Siouxland Youth Chorus will hose KidzSing, a choral music festival for children's choirs from all over the Midwest on April 29-30. In Sioux City. Cynthia Bradford of Crown Point, Indiana will be guest conductor for the choirs and will rehearse, schedule clinics and conduct an evening mass choral performance.

Temple B'nai Jeshurun Purimspiel "That 70's Spiel"

Temple B'nai Jeshurun Purimspiel "That 70's Spiel" is an expression of a traditional Jewish cultural art form. It tells the story of Esther through the music and cultural icons of the 1970's. Author/director Laura Berkson, music director Bobby Stinnett lead an intergenerational cast and crew of over 50 people. The funding will provide rental of audio/lighting equipment for the production.
