MoJo After School

MoJo After School is a Live Art Workshop that creates Dances and Movement Performances by providing funding for artists' fees, travel expenses, and marketing. MoJo after School generates new art work and expands existing programs at the school.

To Be an Iowan

Artist Jeanine Scheffert will interview fifty Iowans living in Winneshiek County regarding their thoughts about Iowa and their daily lives. The interviews will be supplemented by photographs of places and activities mentioned in the interviews. Using the interviews and photographs as references, she will create sketches representing the culture of her northeast Iowa home.

2005 North American Saxophone Alliance Region 3 Conference

The 2005 North American Saxophone Alliance Region 3 Conference will feature student and professional saxophone performances, lecture-recitals and master classes. Renowned guest artist will present classes and serve as featured soloists. The IAC funding will bring Iowa native and former Drake student Dick Oatts, to the concert with the Drake's Jazz Ensemble I.

Recorder/Accordian Concert

Funding is for a concert performance at Drake's Sheslow Auditorium on April 6, 2005 by musicians, David Bellugi (recorder) and Ivano Battistion (accordion) from the faculty at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, Italy.

 

Quad City Symphony Orchestra Association, Davenport
Symphony Children's Chorus Commissioned Project

Symphony Children's Chorus Commissioned Project: Andrew Carter, composer residing in York, England, will create a 15 minute score for full orchestra and three part treble voices. Mr. Carter, working directly with QCSO Music Director Donald Schleicher and Steve Jobman, Children's Chorus director, will lead a choir of 60 students, grades 4-12, in performing a newly commissioned piece, Three Nonsensical Songs.

 

Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre, West Liberty
Producing an Asian Folktale

The Eulenspeigel Puppet Theatre will adapt an Asian folktale, from two folktales, "The Little Old Lady" and "The Rice Cakes." It will be a solo performance by Teri Jean Breitbach. It will be created collaborative effort by Teri Jean Breitback and Monica Leo. It will be available for touring for both indoor and outdoor venues.

 

Historical East Village, Inc., Des Moines
East Village Art Rack Project

The Historic East Village will place a call for Iowa artists to compete in designing, creating and installing artistic bike racks in the eclectic East Village area of downtown Des Moines. The funds will pay artists $600 with an additional $500 to the Grand Prize winner. The installation will be completed by May 10, 2005.

 

Greenwood Elementary, Des Moines
Greenwood Cultural Festival

Greenwood Elementary School will host a Cultural Festival on March 3, 2005. The purpose of the event is to expose our Greenwood community to a variety of cultures, through dance, storytelling, music, crafts and ethnic foods. This event will feature performances by Las Guitar's de Mexico, Sedan, Camphene Manirath and Hashim Nawaz.
